It is. Stamps are $0.47, the cards are usually between $0.45-$1.00 a piece. So, per person in the US, the cost can be up to $1.50 per card sent. Outside the US, the average is about $2.50 per card.

Sure, you can donate through paypal, but it isn't necessary. This is mostly for fun, you know? So don't worry about it.

Yes, but I'm not using a business account so this is just the easier way to go. Because I can't manage the donate forms without being a business account, this makes it easier to track donations.

That said, I think the total donations over the years are less than $20.00. Should I ever end up with a surplus of funds from this, I will buy nicer cards or find things to add to the cards, like tiny presents.
